Celebrate the season and get inspired by nochebuenas, one of the most iconic winter blossoms! Join teaching artist Martha Carrillo for a hands-on workshop where participants will craft their own festive paper poinsettias and paper lanterns to take home. All materials are provided and all ages are welcome. Walk-ins are welcome, too.

SUNDAY, DEC 14 | BARRIO MOBILE ART STUDIO @ THE HUNTINGTON

Join us for a special foam block printing workshop inspired by the artworks featured in The Huntington’s Radical Histories: Chicano Prints from the Smithsonian American Art Museum exhibition. Plus, receive a free commemorative poster designed by Self Help Graphics artist Alfonso Aceves of Kalli Arte Collective. Posters are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

At the event, curators Angélica Becerra, the Bradford and Christine Mishler Associate Curator of American Art, and Diego Godoy, associate curator of California and Hispanic collections, will have a conversation around how Chicano artists have used printmaking as a tool for resistance, community engagement, and the reclamation of cultural identity.

This event will also feature a performance by Los Jornaleros del Norte, an Altadena-based band, and Bloom Wild Bookshop, a Los Angeles–based mobile bookstore and California native seed shop, will be on-site!
