Participate in Self Help Graphics’ next Family Workshop on Saturday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Los Angeles Library, featuring the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) MudMobile team! AMOCA’ MudMobile teaching artists will lead the whole family in a clay workshop. The class will begin by looking at 1-5 pieces of artwork from their education collection while learning about their background and basic clay working techniques to create an art piece.

Join SHG's series on Nature, Art, and Healing Workshop at the Willowbrook Community Garden on Saturday, June 11 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Learn about local medicinal plants and their use with Dr. Elena Esparza and use nature to create cyanotypes with artist, Beatriz Jaramillo. 

Urban Garden: Nature, Art and Healing is SHG's new monthly workshop series centering on the environment, mental health, and food sustainability as a holistic way of living. Elevating the Willowbrook Community Garden as a site of learning and sharing, we are addressing food and environmental inequity through empowerment, art, and knowledge. This series is part of the Getty Foundation's PST Art preliminary programming.

Dig into soil and its essential role in our lives–a source of food, home, and inspiration for sustainable and resilient communities. Participate in our next Soil Time! Workshop on Wednesday, June 14 from 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. at the East Los Angeles County Library. Create with artists, gardeners, activists, and scientists as we grow our relationship with soil in this hands-on bilingual workshop. These workshops support the Prospering Backyards community science project taking on the lead contamination crisis in Los Angeles. Materials provided. All ages welcome.

Soil Time! is led by Los Angeles-based artist Maru Garcia with Self Help Graphics & Art and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. This series is part of the Getty Foundation's PST Art preliminary programming.

Join SHG at the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) for a Paper Mache and Collage Workshop with Teaching Artist, Martha Carrillo, on June 17 at 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. AMOCA is located at 399 N Garey Ave, Pomona, CA 91767.

This workshop is in conjunction with the Making in Between: Queer Clay which brings together works by artists doing intersectional work and exploring common themes of identity, culture, and community. Participants will cover clear plastic vases with paper mâche which will then be embellished with fun craft supplies!

This workshop is open to all ages, and no prior experience is necessary. All materials will be provided to participants. Register on Eventbrite.

Join Andi Xoch of Latinx with Plants at Wellness Wednesday on June 21 from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m., for a plant and self care workshop. Learn about how to care for plants, paint your own pots, and leave with a freshly potted plant to enjoy at home! This workshop is open to all ages, but recommended for ages 15+. Registration is required, space is limited.

Our Wellness Wednesday evenings of mindfulness and self-care will take place on third Wednesdays of the month at Latinx with Plants in Boyle Heights, located at 2208 Cesar Chavez Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90033, between Cornwell St. and N. Chicago St. When visiting, please use the paid parking lot on Chicago St., metered parking or free non-permit neighborhood parking. 

SHG invites you to a special Parking Lot Sale on Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. at 1300 E. 1st St. LA, CA. 90033. Find items for sale such as frames, miscellaneous print supplies, desks, filing cabinets and much more! Registration is not required. These items will be replaced when SHG's renovation is complete so take advantage as we get ready to upgrade and get in on usable, lovingly used items!

Note: Objects available will be sold by minimum donation and must be taken at the time of purchase. All items will be sold "as is". Additionally, the SHG team will not be able to assist with the lifting or loading of large or oversized items, nor offer delivery.
