Self Help Graphics & Art is proud to present Donut W(h)ole, a solo exhibition by the artist Phung Huynh, opening next month on Saturday, March 12, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Donut W(h)ole is an homage to the Cambodian immigrant and Cambodian American (Khmerican), the aftermath of warfare and genocide, stories of survival, determination, and commitment to the family unit. Learn more here.

Upcoming Community Programs & Workshops

Pavel and Xóchitl will discuss identity, communities in Los Angeles, the stories carried throughout generations, and how they are perceived today. Guests will have an opportunity to purchase a signed book and view the exhibition on the last day of its viewing.

Join the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) as they take over our monthly family workshop on March 12 at 1:00 p.m! Their 'MudMobile' educators will lead the whole family on a clay workshop to create coil pots. The class will begin by looking at 1 - 5 pieces of artwork from their education collection while learning about their background. Then, the instructors will teach basic clay working techniques to create an art piece.

On March 16 our SHG Youth Committee will present an Intro to Essential Oils with Xóchitl Palomera in-person at 6:00 p.m. at Self Help Graphics, for its monthly Wellness Wednesday workshop. This workshop is recommended for ages 15+. Learn more and register here.

Beyond the Press artists, Kalli Arte, will host their first Open Studio of the year on Thursday, March 17 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Self Help Graphics & Art. It's is an opportunity to engage with the artists, ask questions and see their work in progress. Limited space is available. RSVP here.

Our DIY Silkscreen Workshop with Dewey Tafoya takes place 3rd Saturdays of the month. Registration is open now for Saturday, March 19 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. ($30)! Our one-day, do-it-yourself workshop teaches participants how to print using a stencil or photo process onto a screen. No previous experience is necessary to participate. Beginners welcome!

Learn to create your own posters, fine art, print tote bags or t-shirts! This workshop is recommended for ages 15+. Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. Learn more and register on Eventbrite here.
