As we enter this years season of remembering for Día de los Muertos, we gather to honor the lives and legacies of those who came before us. Their creativity, courage, and resilience continue to guide us, reminding us that they are still with us - accompanying us, and inspiring us. In their memory, we find strength, dignity, and the imagination to carry our community forward through these difficult times.

This year marks a sacred milestone: our 52nd Día de los Muertos, aligned with the xiuhmolpilli—a bundle of 52 years in Nahuatleca traditions, symbolizing completion, renewal, and transformation. For Self Help Graphics, it is not only a commemoration of the past, but also a declaration of the present. Our traditions are alive, our community is here, and our lives and legacies deserve to be seen—up front, out in public, and top of mind.

Cultivating and creating this celebration on unceded Tongva territory is both an act of remembrance and of vision. It keeps our ancient traditions alive with respectful innovation while calling us to imagine what is possible when we stand together—rooted in memory, yet boldly claiming our place in this complicated present.

Sign up to this season’s  Día de los Muertos Community Art Workshops every Saturday from 12-3 pm for the month of October! Explore Día de los Muertos traditional crafts, including papel picado and paper flowers, and more activities, like painting calaca magnets, modeling clay shrines, and decorating picture frames!

We are proud to present this year’s Self Help Graphics & Art’s 52nd Annual Día de los Muertos Celebration, in partnership with Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Hilda Solis. Our celebration will take place on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 3 pm - 8 pm at the East LA Civic Center (4801 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90022).

Join us as we gather in community to honor our ancestors, remember our loved ones, and celebrate the causes close to our hearts. This year’s celebration embodies our commitment to arts and social justice, where creativity meets resistance and memory becomes action! Come celebrate life, memory, and the power of community!

Local cultural dance groups and poets will guide attendees on a walk and jump on the Metro from Boyle Heights to East LA Civic Center Park, where the main Día de los Muertos celebration will take place.

To close Self Help Graphics & Art’s 52nd Annual Día de los Muertos Season, join us for Noche de Ofrenda,  an evening where we honor our ancestors through altars, memory, and connection. Eternal Threads, a Día de los Muertos exhibition curated by Andrea Ramirez and Rosanna Esparza Ahrens, will be on view, featuring an altar by Master Altar Maker Ofelia Esparza, as well as other artists.

Ready to help? Volunteers are a crucial component to SHG’s Día de los Muertos season. We have multiple opportunities for volunteers interested in donating their time to the event. Plus, volunteers that work during the Día de los Muertos main celebration event will receive a t-shirt!
