Our Biennial Paper Fashion Gala and Runway Show returns Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Frankie LA! Seated runway tickets and standing room tickets are available on Eventbrite at bit.ly/PaperFashionTix.

As part of this year's fashion show and runway event, we are offering a special online auction on GiveSmart to support the legacy of Self Help Graphics, as we begin our 50th Anniversary! Bid on a selection of fine prints from our archive or purchase prints immediately to support our organization. The online auction will be active Thursday, May 11-Wednesday, May 24! Auction prints include works by artists Gilbert "Magu" Lujan, Yreina Cervantes, Leo Limon, Gronk, Diane Gamboa, Larry Yanez, Jose Ramirez, Salomon Huerta, Yolanda Gonzalez, Judy Baca, Alma Lopez, Sonia Romero, Emilia Garcia, William Acedo, Miguel Angel Reyes, J. Leigh Garcia, Shizu Saldamando, Miyo Stevens Gandara, Pavel Acevedo, and Frank Romero.

Support our Paper Fashion Gala by bidding or buying fine prints on the auction site. Here’s how to participate:

1. Go to SHGPaperFashion.givesmart.com.

2. Click registration link (top right) to sign up and participate.

3. Next, click on view items (you may also view items before registering, but you cannot bid or buy without registering).

4. When you’ve chosen your favorite artwork, click on the option to bid to participate in the auction or buy the artwork immediately. (A credit card is required to bid or buy.)

5. You may also leave a donation on the auction site.

Auction bid winners will be notified via email and text and have 24 hours to complete transaction. Please note that collectors who purchase prints on the auction site, and winners of the auction items, will have their artworks shipped to them within two weeks of the closing bidding date of May 24. (We are unable to distribute purchased artwork on the night of the Gala).

The Paper Fashion Gala and Runway Show is one of our most anticipated events where paper art and fashion meet, for an incredible fete celebrating the legacy of Self Help Graphics through wearable paper fashion! The 2023 Gala will honor Bank of America, Rose Ramirez (Former Board Member) and Judithe Hernandez (SHG Legacy Artist).

The runway show will showcase 13 designs of wearable paper fashion motivated by prints selected from Self Help Graphics’ vast archive. The Gala's fashion designs are created by a cohort of 12 featured artists, including: Consuelo Flores and Gian Flores Norte, Yolanda Gonzalez, Moni Perez, Martha Carrillo, Arturo Urista, Paul Botello, Jacqueline "Jax" Esparza, Jose Lozano, Emilia Garcia, Joey Terrill, and Marissa Magdalena Sykes!

100% of ticket sales will benefit Self Help Graphics & Art, committed to providing exhibitions, community programming, and access to space, tools, training and resources to local artists. Your support helps us to continue our mission, dedicated to the production, interpretation and distribution of prints and other art media by Chicana/o and Latine artists. 

The event will feature select Self Help Graphics & Art works, live DJs, mocktails and co-curated cocktails by Campari, poured by our friends at Hello Stranger! Complimentary valet parking will be available (directly in front of the venue). Fashion forward cocktail attire is encouraged!
