Know Before You Visit Self Help Graphics: New City of Los Angeles Ordinance Effective November 8

By Jennifer Cuevas

“Mask Now, Smile Later” by Dewey Tafoya, originally debuted as part of The Art of Well-Being campaign, in partnership with the City of LA’s Department of Cultural Affairs.

Since March 2020, Self Help Graphics has complied with California State, Los Angeles County and City of LA COVID-19 health mandates to ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and community. We’ve worked through the highs and lows during this nearly two-year pandemic, shifting our work online and weaving in-person experiences at our cultural center and in neighborhoods through our Barrio Mobile Art Studio, with safety precautions in place, when it was deemed safe to proceed in person again. We successfully launched our SOY Artista program last summer on site, and our Día de los Muertos season that continues through November 24, 2021. If there’s one thing that this pandemic has taught us, it’s how to be even more adaptive during these unprecedented times; and as we continue to navigate this new normal, we ask that you please check our website “home” or “contact us” pages, in order to ensure you have the most updated news about visiting or participating in our in-person offerings before you arrive.

Self Help Graphics & Art is currently open to the public by appointment only or with pre-registration for our Open Studio visits, workshops, programs, and gallery exhibitions. View our web calendar, Eventbrite or Facebook event listings for details about in-person and virtual programming opportunities. All pre-registered on-site visitors must wear masks, including vaccinated guests.

Effective November 8, 2021, in accordance with the City of Los Angeles municipal code, Self Help Graphics will need to verify proof of vaccination for people visiting the site 12 years of age or older, or a negative covid test taken within 72 hours of being on-site. All people 18 years of age and older will have to show identification as well. Thank you for working with us to ensure the health and safety of all visitors and that we're in compliance with the City of Los Angeles ordinance. People who do not show either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test will unfortunately be turned away.

If you have any questions or wish to contact our administrative team, please email info@selfhelpgraphics.com and we'll return your correspondence as promptly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time as we work to safely operate and keep the health of our staff and community members a priority.
