Self Help Graphics & Eastside LEADS' 2025 Youth Artivism Internship cohort, also known as the Artivistas, have been using SHG’s printmaking studio to craft pieces of art you can display or wear! Designed by Nat, Abril, Maddy, and Karen, items like t-shirt, stickers, tank tops, patches, journal covers, and poster prints will be on sale as part of this mutual aid online fundraiser. 100% of proceeds will support Eastside families who’ve been struggling to pay for rent, groceries, legal fees, etc. due to ICE raids. Funds will be given to vulnerable members of the Eastside LEADS coalition who have been nominated. At the same time, you’ll be able to support the creative endeavors of our emerging Chicanx/Latinx youth artivists.

THE ARTIVISTAS

Learn more about SHG's 2025 Youth Artivism Internship cohort here.

Check out the process! All the designs made by the Artivistas are informed by intensive feedback from the Eastside LEADS coalition’s members. To incorporate the community into their designs, the Artivistas presented their work-in-progress, which responds to the theme of “Raíces Sin Fronteras” or “Roots without Borders” and made revisions, resulting in works made by and for the community. Shout out to our teaching artists, Dewey, Viktor, and Melissa, our facilitators, Jesus and Tania, and the rest of the SHG team for their support!

$25.00

This 11"x17" 14pt matte cardstock poster centers on the shared instinct to move, survive, and adapt. A human figure walks alongside migrating animals illustrating the interconnected rhythms of life across species. The piece challenges the criminalization of human migration by mirroring it with the natural, unquestioned migrations that sustain ecosystems. It invites viewers to recognize movement as an ancestral right and a reflection of our place within the natural world.

This print was developed through multiple rounds of community collaboration, drawn and vectorized digitally by Nat Ayala, and professionally printed.

“There's Power in Our Nature” Poster by Nat Ayala
$25.00

This print showcases migrating animals hovering around a central human figure, encircling them like spirits. A poster within the image reads “Nature migrates, and so do we,” anchoring the message that migration is natural. The human figure is inspired by photographs from the Chicano Movement, echoing the strength and courage of migrant farm workers who marched in defiance and hope. Through this imagery, the print uplifts migration as instinctive, sacred, and deeply connected to the natural order.

Artistically conceptualized, digitally drawn and vectorized by Nat Ayala, and brought to life through professional printing.

“Migrating Animals” Embroidered Patches by Nat Ayala
$10.00

"Adapted from my poster series “Nature Migrates, and So Do We,” these 3" x 3" patches are hand-embroidered on 100% recycled cotton. Each one carries the texture of care, craft, and resistance. Inspired by punk’s DIY ethos, they’re meant to be hand-sewn by the wearer onto any article of clothing. What’s more punk than activism and self-expression?

These patches are made to move with the wearer: stitch them onto jackets, bags, or whatever you claim as your canvas. Created to be worn at protests, in the streets, or in everyday life, they serve as small emblems of solidarity with all who journey. A reminder that migration is not a crime, but a natural, enduring act—woven into the fabric of life itself."

Each 3"x3" piece is screen printed on repurposed cotton shirts, carefully hand-cut, and finished with detailed hand embroidery.

This item is part of “Raices sin fronteras” (Roots without Borders), a mutual aid fundraiser by the Artivistas, Self Help Graphics & Eastside LEADS' 2025 Youth Artivism Internship cohort.

“Migrating Animals” Fun Patches by Nat Ayala
$8.00

"Adapted from my poster series “Nature Migrates, and So Do We,” these  3" x3" recycled cotton patches highlight the animals that symbolize freedom, movement, and endurance. Designed in the spirit of punk DIY culture, each patch is meant to be hand-sewn by the wearer onto the article of clothing of their choice—a personal act of resistance and self-expression.

What’s more punk than activism? These patches reject confinement to a single garment, embracing fluidity, creativity, and movement—just like migration itself. They are made to travel: to be seen in protest and demonstration, or simply woven into everyday life as quiet, persistent symbols of solidarity. Reminding us always that migration is not a crime, but a natural act woven into the fabric of life itself."

Each 3"x3" piece is screen printed on repurposed cotton shirts, carefully hand-cut.
