Update on Our Building

Dear SHG Friends & Colleagues

It’s with great enthusiasm that we share news about the organization’s quest to secure permanent roots in Boyle Heights. Today,  the L.A. County Board of Supervisors passed a motion to allocate up to $450,000 in County funding for our community arts organization, now in our fourth decade of operation. The County funding will be allocated for equipment and/or property renovations at the 1300 East First Street location, where we currently reside.

Today’s Board of Supervisors motion highlights the significance of Self Help Graphics & Art’s impact on the populations we serve throughout the County of Los Angeles through multidisciplinary grassroots community arts practice; and sets a precedent in securing our legacy as a top cultural arts organization in the country. Many thanks to Supervisor Hilda Solis for supporting our call to action for the communities and artists of color that we serve in the County of Los Angeles.

Thank you for supporting us through the start of our journey to call 1300 First St. our permanent home. As we embark on our 45th anniversary in 2018, we hope you will join us in sharing the good news and consider donating to our organization this holiday season.

Donate today!

Sincerely,

Self Help Graphics & Art
