Join us for “Decorating Picture Frames”, a workshop with teaching artist Monica Perez. Explore creativity as a form of self-care using frames, paint, gems, foam shapes, and more! Design a one-of-a-kind frame for Mother’s Day, for someone special, or for yourself! This hands-on workshop is for all ages and experience levels. All materials will be provided. Walk-ins welcome.
Plus, make sure to check out "Culture Heals: Wellness Fair” on Saturday, May 9 from 10 AM-4 PM at the East LA Civic Center, located right next to the East Los Angeles Library, where SHG’s “Family Workshops at the Library” series takes place. Organized by Mujeres de Maiz, this cultural event serves bilingual communities with free, culturally focused wellness programs, featuring workshops, presentations, wellness sessions, resources and information supporting mental health. ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:
Monica Perez is a Los Angeles based artist and educator. Perez is a teaching artist for SHG’s Barrio Mobile Art Studio, leading workshops on printmaking and other art practices, like photography, cyanotype, altar-making, and more.

Self Help Graphics & Art’s monthly free Family Workshops are held at the East Los Angeles Library every second Saturday of the month in the Community Room. Limited public parking is available. The East Los Angeles County Library is located at 4837 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90022, directly across from the Metro E Line East LA Civic Center Station, at the intersection of 3rd Street and Mednik Avenue.
